Our eyebrows play an important role. Their main function is to protect our eyes from moisture, like sweat and rain. They also frame our face, which is why having clean, naturally shaped eyebrows is important. Many people pluck them to any desired shape and thickness, sometimes it can be too thin or thick. And the number one thing we should always remember is to never over-pluck! It is always better to under-pluck than to over-pluck, because you will have to wait for the hairs to grow back again once you have made a mistake. Plus you’ll end up having thin eyebrows when trying to fix it. You should know that having thin eyebrows can make you look more mature, while having thicker eyebrows will give you a more youthful look.
So, what is the best way to shape our eyebrows? There are a few steps in which we should follow to get a clean well-groomed finish. The most important thing, if you have normal eyebrows (in which most cases people do), is to maintain your eyebrows’ natural shape.
There are many different ways for us to shape our brows like tweezing/plucking, waxing, threading, tattooing, and shaving. But what we will be discussing is about tweezing, as it is one of the simplest ways to shape our brows. And for some of those who are not familiar with the word, tweezing or plucking is the process of pulling out strands of hair from a human body using a tweezer.
Here are some items needed to get started:
1. Eyeliner Brush – you can use this if you decide to use a shadow instead of a pencil. Sometimes you don’t need to buy a separate eyeliner brush as they can already come with your eyebrow shadows.
2. Eyebrow Pencil or Shadow – if you have dark hair, choose one that is 1 to 2 shades lighter than your hair color. And if you have light hair, choose one that is 1 to 2 shades darker.
3. Tweezer – used to pull out strands of hair. Plucking your hair can hurt especially when it is your first time doing it. So, it is best to do this right after a cold shower or you may also apply ice on your brow bone to numb the skin. Another option is to apply a numbing gel/spray on the skin (Note: Always follow the instructions found in the packaging).
4. Eyebrow Brush/Comb – to comb your eyebrows.
5. Small Scissors/Cuticle Scissors – to cut long excess hair.
6. Eyebrow Wax – to keep the brows in place.
There are also many eyebrow grooming kits available, so you won’t have to worry about buying all items one by one.

BASIC SHAPE OF YOUR EYEBROW:

1. If you are sensitive to pain, first apply ice or numbing spray/cream to the area (again, read instructions carefully).
2. Take a pencil, or you can use the body of your brow comb, and place it at a vertical line at the side of your nose just like figure 1 above. Then pluck any hair that is outside of that line.
3. Now following figure 2 above, tilt your pencil until it crosses the middle of your pupil (the black circle in the very center of your eye), that is where your arch should be.
4. Then tilt the pencil a little bit more until the corner of your eye. That is where your brows should end. So, any hair exceeding that will be tweezed.
GROOMING:
1. Take a closer look at your natural eyebrow shape. Any stray hair outside your natural shape will be tweezed.
2. Comb your eyebrows upward to get a clear view of the bottom and tweeze the bottom stray hairs. Do not go too fast without checking the shape every once in a while to prevent over-plucking. Make sure you even out the edges.
3. Comb your brows up again and cut, using the cuticle scissors, extra long hairs showing at the top to make it look even and clean. Take note when cutting your hair that you should only cut those hairs that are sticking out badly (ones that are not behaving) and not cut too much nor too short to maintain the fullness of your brows and still make it look natural. Unless otherwise you want an unnatural look.
4. Comb your brows downward to get a clear view of the upper part and tweeze off any stray hair.
5. Again, cut extra long hairs showing at the bottom to even it out.
6. Comb you eyebrows like you would its normal shape and fill it in with an eyebrow pencil or shadow, especially the sparse areas.
7. Brush them again to blend in the color and make it look more natural.
8. Lastly, apply the wax over your eyebrows and comb them properly to set them in place.
Now we’re done!
Can you use scissors instead of plucking?
Yes you can, dorothy. If you have many stray hairs outside your normal brows and are not bothered by it then it’s fine to just use scissors alone. But if you mean using scissors to cut the stray hairs, then i’d recommend plucking the stray hairs as cutting it will not make it look neat. for cutting, it’s better to use cuticle scissors as it is easier to cut
Hope I have answered your question!
