Green Travel: True eco- friendly travel!

Green travel is the buzzword, these days. But, what does green travel mean? This term is synonymous with terms like ecotourism, sustainable tourism or responsible tourism. Any travel that does not harm the environment is termed as green travel. This kind of travel provides important succor to nature and saves the environment in a positive way. Each one of us should try to plan a green holiday. In doing so, you do not have to spend anything extra or make some great planning. All you need to do is to keep the safety of nature in mind.

It is sad to see the present deteriorating state of our environment. Although steps are being taken to protect our ecosystem, a lot still needs to be done. Conservation of our ecosystem is not the responsibility of just one person. This mission cannot be accomplished until and unless the whole world is involved. We all should continue to protect our surroundings in whatever way we can.

With rising awareness, plenty of different methods are being introduced to safeguard our environment. Recently, we have come across a lot of things that are that are being done for the protection of the environment. A whole lot of environment-friendly products, eco-paints, eco-friendly vehicles, biodiesel, solar lamps and even eco-honeymoons are available. It is a good start and it should continue at a rapid pace because we cannot afford to hamper our environment any more. The harmful effects on the environment are directly related to the effect the environment has on us. This means that if our ecosystem is in danger it results in a very bad impact on our lives. The sooner we rectify this problem, the better.

Some of the ways in which you can be successful in your green travel endeavor are:

Go in for air travel only when it is absolutely necessary. Try traveling by trains. You can also opt for green flights. Such flights are safer for the environment. Moreover, they are not too expensive. The cost of both the types of flights is almost the same. So, while your pocket won’t feel much of the difference, the environment surely will.
If you want to check out nearby places, hire a car that runs on biodiesel, propane or electricity. Try to find cars that are smaller. If your car is not fuel efficient, do not use it. Car-pooling is also a great idea.
Try staying at green hotels. They take extra care to protect the environment.
Do not get the bed sheets of your hotel room changed everyday. Try to save water by taking a short shower. Reuse the hotel towels. Do not use disposable cups and bottles; instead you can get your own cup and water bottles. Also, switch off all the electrical devices when not in the room.
Wherever possible, try to use public transportation. This will save your money and also the environment.
When you go sightseeing, do not harm the flora or fauna. You need to appreciate the beauty of nature without disturbing it.
Do not buy items that have been made using endangered species. This act of yours can discourage their sale and thereby protect such species.
Avoid the use of any plastic bags. Carry your own purses and bags.
While indulging in any kind of water sports do not touch, harm or scare any water creature. This can harm and destroy the natural beauty.

Green Travel

By taking a little extra care, you can make a lot of difference to the environment. It is every person’s duty to remain informed about the state of nature and take proper steps to save it. Green travel need not be boring.

It also does not mean that you need to go and visit only forests. It can be done anywhere. You just need to keep the safety of mother earth in mind. It can actually be interesting and very different. So, next time you travel, please go green. You will surely enjoy the experience.
