The most important thing to remember when choosing clothes to make you look slimmer is to wear your right size. Whether you are bigger or smaller, having the right fitting clothes will make you look slimmer than you are. So, always go with your size. Wearing tight-fitting clothes doesn’t help you look thinner as it can only make you look stuffed and accentuate the areas you want to hide. Same as for loose-fitting clothes, you might think they will hide your problem areas but they actually also make you look bigger.

You can skim on the areas that you would like to disguise, like if you have a big belly then you may wear a top that is of course your size but just not too tight on the belly area. Or if you have big thighs then go for a flowy skirt rather than a mini skirt.

There are many ways for us to look thinner. Once you’ve got your right size you can start playing with colors. We all know that black can definitely make us look slimmer. Even though it can be a bit plain, you can always pair it up with a nice belt, some jewelry or a nice pair of shoes. But it doesn’t mean that black is the only color that can make you look slimmer. It’s just about using dark colors! Another tip is to use monochromatic colors with different tones which can direct people’s focus to your face instead of your body. You can also use blocks of colors to draw the attention away from any problem area, like for example wearing a red top to draw away attention from your legs.

Next is using the right accessories. You have to be careful though when putting on accessories as these can also emphasize the area where it is placed. If you have concerns of having a big belly then avoid accessorizing around the waist as it will only emphasize your tummy. Also, do not wear pants with pleats, elastic waists, pockets and ones that are high-waisted. High waisted pants can make you look like you have a bigger belly even when you really don’t. Always go with pants that have narrow tapered legs, side/back zippers or ones that are flatter looking.

For those of you who would want to look longer and leaner avoid clothes with horizontal stripes and stick to vertical stripes. You can also elongate your body by using pants that cover up to your shoes.

For those who have double chins, avoid too much going on around the neck area like short necklaces and tops with collars as this may make your neck look shorter and emphasize your chin. So be sure to keep that area light or use long necklaces. This will elongate the look of you neck.

Last but not least, is to have proper posture. Slouching can make you look like you’ve added pounds so make sure to stand or sit up straight and tuck your tummy in. This will give you confidence and definitely make you look slimmer!
