Innovation in Technology

Often when people look into getting more up to date with technology they venture over to one of the more popular stores. But when you are looking to get more up to date, you should think about going online and researching the kind of product you’re looking for. For example if you were to buy a TV, you should check out the differences between the models, and which characteristics are most pertinent when setting a specific price point. For example, when we talk about TV’s, manufacturers are looking to ways to keep people spending around two thousand for a model. And in more recent times, we see that they have been pushing for televisions to be built with more and more unnecessary options.

The biggest thing being the new internet connectivity that the televisions are being pre-built with. These new Smart TV’s now come with Netflix, Hulu, Blockbuster on Demand, and an array of other Apps which make your television into an oversized IPAD on your wall. As great as this is, how many more devices do we really need that can connect to the internet to watch YouTube on? Are you even aware of the new refrigerators coming out which have a built in LCD display which have Apps and built in Wifi so that you can view videos on your refrigerator. How unnecessary is that? Especially since most modern homes have a television already in the kitchen.

One thing I do like about the liquid LCD display is that you don’t need a bunch of paper or a dry erase board on the front of the fridge in order to leave a message for the whole family. But to turn your refrigerator into yet another multimedia device is just much too much for me to even allow in my own home. In our ever connected world it’s incredible that we’re blurring the lines between innovative and downright excessive. Especially when there are truly no limits to technology.

One thing that I would be fully for is a video game table with a touch display which encompasses the entire surface area of the table. This table would have a bunch of fun games, maybe like a Pac-man or something that you would find on the iPAD, even Angry Birds would be a great addition to this type of line-up. Even something like table top flash hockey would be cool to play on this kind of computer gaming setup. I would like to personally build one, but I could see it being beyond my ability due to the programming alone. If I can however, I would like to go ahead and get an iPAD and with a cable and transmit the image to the table. With a touch display I would still be able to go ahead and interact with it and be able to play games and show cool things from the internet as I eat a meal on the table. And when you’re eating on the table, you can set up the table to know where you are eating by creating a virtual mat and creating a boxed areas where the touch functions would be disabled.

Innovation is very difficult when you don’t build off a previous idea, especially when coming up with an independent original thought that is truly unique in every way. And without straying too far, I would like to note how horrendous copyright laws are in this country. Atrociously backwards and disgustingly restrictive, we find that copyright is not American in any sense. Without the review of millions of patents which pertain to the product you are creating you can find yourself infringing on someone’s previous idea by complete accident.
